Alignment of Expectations

Boss Bunny

This is the beginning of our founder document, where we align expectations up front in order to start, continue and operate in agreement no matter what is thrown at us.

Please remember that some of these blog posts are taken directly from our internal communications, so expect (pun intended) some internal lingo and references.

Anticipation Alignment

As we talked about on the phone we will create a 'document' with founder expectations to lean on. I have noted this as a start.

  • We will, whenever possible, make big decisions together. Since there are now three of us, in principle no blocking disagreements will arise, but I suggest that we introduce 'a last resort' of rock-paper-scissors or something along those lines.

  • Always 'disagree and commit' where needed.

  • As a minimum, you always inform the others about decisions and measures taken in your respective areas.

  • It is expected that we can disagree and fight over decisions but it is also expected that you can cool off and be an active part of the agreement afterwards.

  • It is expected that we all contribute actively to the company - also outside one's core competences.

  • It is expected, if you 'get stuck', that you contact the rest of the team to move on.

  • You are not expected to work a specific number of hours or days per week or month.

  • It is expected that if you are 'busy' for a period of time, you inform the others about this. Preferably up front but definitely afterwards.

  • You are not expected to be 'on-call' 24/7

  • We use Signal as a common communication channel (https://signal.org on mobile and PC, if that's OK with you Frederik)

  • All On-Courze code is on GitHub in the existing repos (legacy backend code is on GitLab) and is private (not open to the public).

  • Marketing and resulting sales are Alpha and Omega. We will get nowhere without focusing on this and coming up with strategy and material that differentiates us from the competition. e.g. it looks as if our rabbit references work OK 🐇

Hopefully there is nothing odious in this and then we can expand/specify along the way - not least when we start generating revenue. In addition to the fact that it is a good standard to have things in writing, it is also so that we can publish it on our future website.
